#9: who's your daddy?

Having finished Bioshock for the 3rd time today made me realise it's not just my favourite game of 2007. It's one of my favourite games ever. I don't think it's that far from games like Zelda, Ico or Metroid, they all have memorable characters, settings and story progress, and something I'm particuarly sensitive to: atmosphere. I can feel the ocean pushing down on me whenever I'm walking around in Rapture. It probably helps that I'm dead scared of vasts amount of water, I want to get out of there as fast as possible! Although it's still one of my favourite environments to be in (I almost consider it a holiday location haha), and I wouldn't surprise me if I go through it a fourth or even fifth time this year.

(also, I really like that wrist tattoo, some people actually got that tattoo after playing the game! It has more than one meaning in the game, so I like the ambiguity as well.)

Apart from people, clouds are my favourite things to take pictures of. Expect a lot of these in the coming year :)

#6: My hometown...

it's nothing special. And calling it 'hometown'... I only lived there 3 years (the first 3 years of my life). But I still consider it as home, even though we've been living here in Ostend for 18 years now. There are a lot of memories connected to it, it always gives me a bit of a melancholic feeling whenever I go there. Although I'm happy my dad kept the house after the divorce. We moved 4 times since then, so the house really stayed a 'home' throughout those years.

I only recently noticed this house though, even though it's quite impossible that I never saw it before. I guess it's one of those 'unique' things every town has, you know what I mean? And I don't really like it, hah.

#5: Carnaval Aalst

The carnaval in Aalst is the biggest and most famous one in Belgium, and somewhat of a yearly tradition for me and my dad. For the people of Aalst, this means 3 days of non-stop partying and drinking. Non-local people only come for the parade though. Which is always very nice, especially when you keep in mind all the people participating are volunteers and paid for everything with their own money.
This year, we only arrived quite late (around 3) and stayed until after 6. Some of the wagons and costumes looked quite spectacular in the dark.
I had an extremely hard time choosing just one picture, but I like this one a lot. Just look at their faces, especially the one in the lower right corner, looking directly at you. This one was taken just before. My second choice would be this one. The carnaval really is a multi-generation thing. The one this year is the 80th edition.

But, the best thing I saw were a couple of Vicky Pollard look-a-likes. Most guys dress up like tramps, but I hadn't seen this variation yet.

#4: Sir Ian

I took some very nice pictures today, and it was hard to pick just one.

I decided on this one, because it really shows what a cheeky chappy he really is. He has made me laugh so many times today... he can be so damn random and funny at times. He definitely has class clown potential.

Oh yeah, for the non-lj readers: I'm Ian's godfather. People tell me he looks like me though. It's true, I have his babyface. I have more hair than him though!

#3: weapon of choice

Most of the pictures I'll post here will be made by this camera: a Canon Powershot A710IS. Bought it for my birthday last year. I chose this one instead of the 'better' models because it has a 6x optical zoom. I soon discovered that I can make awesome videos with it. I recently fed it with a 4GB SD card. I'll need that space come summer, I love taking videos and pictures at music festivals.

(I might not be able to update in the next 2 days, but then I'll make up for it by doing 3 entries on monday, mmkay?)
